| Venue review body | Shakespeare's Globe is designed to be like the Shakespeare's (original) Globe, so it is not surprising that it lacks many modern-day comforts. The seats are wooden and backless, the theatre is open to the elements, there are pillars obstructing some views and the closest positions to the stage are standing room only. But seeing a show at Shakespeare's Globe is an experience, and standing in the yard can be lots of fun. The toilet facilities, fortunately, are in the modern complex adjoining the theatre, and cushions can be hired. Moreover, careful choice of clothes (layers, waterproof clothes and very sensible shoes if standing) can make seeing a show at Shakespeare's Globe much more enjoyable. |
